I was very hesitant to start The Immortal Rules due to the large number of vampire books out there. I have read and loved the Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa and I feared this new release would ruin her writing for me. To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.
Kagawa came up with an ingenious world that, if vampires were real, could become our future. The way she expresses her vampires is unlike any other book out there, her idea is original and captivating. Allie is a young girl who despises vampires, until the day she becomes one. Even though her fate is sealed and she must now learn to live as the one thing she had hated for her whole life, Allie doesn't give up in hope that she can be a vampire with human virtues. She tries her hardest to remain as human as possible, fighting the vampire that she is.
Kanin is her creator, the guy that saved her life and damned her future. I loved his character from the beginning and their seperation nearly killed me. Zeke is the human boy that sees something in her that warms her non-beating heart. She tries everything in her power to hide who she really is, travelling with Zeke and his crew to search for the mysterious Eden.
I loved this story but for some reason I enjoyed the second and fourth quarter of the book best, the other two quarters got a bit slow and boring at times. However, overall, I absolutely adored this book. It had just the right amount of action, romance and mystery in it. I would recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal adventures and want to read something refreshing and original.
